Blog series: Encouraging Active play and sport
Today is National Fitness Day which is a great time to talk about encouraging your child to be active in their play. Taking children to the park or encouraging games in the garden gives them the opportunity to learn new skills and coordination, as well as building strong muscles and bones. Reducing screen-time is another way of encouraging your child to be more active when at home. Television watching and computer time is ever increasing during adolescent years, whilst physical activity is lowest in these age groups. Joining a sports club not only helps your child to be active, but also teaches your child valuable team playing lessons and is fun and social at the same time. Children should be encouraged with at least 60-minutes of active play or sport each day.
